JAY BINDER

BINDER--Jay, renowned casting director passed peacefully at home at age 71. He cast almost 100 Broadway shows including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, and Jerome Robbins Broadway as well as 12 Neil Simon plays from 1990 through 2009. Jay cast every New York City Center Encores for 26 seasons from its first show Fiorello! (1994) to Mack and Mabel (2020) as well as the films Chicago, Dreamgirls and Nine. He was a passionate theater-maker, mentor, and guide, with an encyclopedic knowledge of and ardent love for the Broadway theater. He leaves behind a huge family of authors, directors, producers, and especially the actors he so passionately wanted to succeed.
