When we were young children she was teacher. May Our Lord Jesus Christ comfort her family and the Ursuline Community and may Sr. Jean Baptiste Rest In Peace... Love The Scelza Girls

She was Mother Jean Baptiste when she first came to teach at Ursuline. Her kindness and enthusiasm inspired us all. She brought the classical languages to life for us- we all looked forward to the Greek and Latin classes she taught because she made it all so relevant. As a member of the class of '67, I owe so much to JB and she will remain in my heart and prayers. It is with great affection that I remember her life and hope to always honor her with mine.

Including myself, there are three "Ursuline girls" in our family. My sister began when there was a kindergarten and I began in fifth grade, and my niece in high school. Sr. JB was my Latin teacher in high school. She was not only bright, but warm and always concerned about her students. We always loved when she proctored our study halls because she would sometimes fall asleep!! She was the best Ursuline had and there will never be another JB. Ursuline and the world are both better places because of Sr. JB. May she rest in peace.
