Jeffrey Glick Obituary

1961 - 2021
Dr. Jeffrey Glick, a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, loyal and unconditional friend, very much-loved and revered doctor, died on Friday, December 3rd as a result of a sudden stroke. He was 60 years young.

Jeffrey lived his life with passion teaching us that life is about experiences, love, laughter and simple pleasures. Touching all those that he interacted with, leaving an indelible mark wherever he went, Jeffrey was truly an unsung hero to many, many people. He was an avid cyclist, world-traveler, and loved theatre and gardening

Professionally, Dr. Glick's earned his degrees from George Washington University and completed his training at Mt. Saini Medical Center in New York City. His empathic bedside manner, diagnostic skills and generosity of his time and intuition made him an excellent physician. Dr. Glick always took the time to truly listen to each patient in order to make a spot-on diagnosis. When any small medical detail wasn't quite right, he pursued every avenue in order to make sure nothing was missed in the diagnosis and treatment. He was that doctor that would drive a patient home from the hospital and bring them food.

Jeffrey gave his time, notes of support when times were hard and, most of all, he generously gave his love to everyone in his life. This transcended even in his death. He left his legacy by donating his organs to families who needed a miracle.

He is survived by his parents, Ivan and Sheila, his husband Greg, siblings Robert and Halli, and nieces Alicia and Bailee, and nephew Jake.

Jeffrey passionately supported God's Love We Deliver since its inception. An organization Whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition. Donations in his memory can be made https://give.glwd.org/JeffreyGlick

There will be a celebration of Jeffrey's life in spring 2022.

Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry about the passing of Jeff Glick. Though we never met in person, he was my customer for ceramics. He was a very special customer, the rare kind who connected on a deeper level. It was such a joy to work on his custom orders. It challenged me to my utmost because it was easily apparent how he valued quality and integrity. I didn´t know of his profession during the years we interacted, but I´m certainly not surprised to learn here about his exquisite care of his patients. His passing left an emptiness that can´t be filled but I´m holding on to the memories in that space. I am in California but on a trip to NYC 2 years ago I walked by an upper east side address where I´d shipped one of his orders and said a prayer, said Thank You and farewell. My true and deepest condolences to his loved ones, family and friends. He was truly a rare gem in this world. Lin Myerson

Jeffrey was our Doctor for many years. He was the most caring and loving person you could ever want as your physician. He had such a genuineness about him . He diagnosed me with a very serious matter and made sure that I got to the right people. We miss him and love him very much. Anthony and Arthur

Eleven years ago Jeffrey saved my life when I had inadvertently delayed a colonoscopy. When I was diagnosed with cancer he invoked his extraordinary network of providers to treat my condition. When I asked him some months later, "did you save my life?" His response was, "No, you saved your life". He was never willing to take take credit. When I moved from New York in 2020, one of my biggest challenges was trying to find a doctor as gifted as Jeffrey. I am still looking.

I am so saddened to have learned today of the passing of Jeffrey. He was a truly amazing man and physician. It´s rare one finds such a physician willing to listen and spend whatever time was needed with his patients. He will be missed.

I just heard the sad news about Jeff today while speaking with a group of busing colleagues ftom St Vincent's ER where we worked with Jeff. Everything in the obituary is true. As a colleague he was a delight to work with and was loved by all. We worked together during some very tough times and Jeff was not only brilliant but equally caring and respectful. He was always smiling with those gorgeous teeth and soft voice. He will be remembered.

I just learned of this tragic news. What a wonderful, sincere, empathic doctor Jeffrey was. Although I only knew him for a few years, I credit him with having saved the life of my adult daughter when other doctors refused to heed my concerns. Although she had not been his patient, it was his empathy and kindness that dictated his actions, and what unquestionably saved her life.
My deepest condolences to his family, and to those who were lucky enough to have known this wonderful man.

Jeff has been in my life for over 30 years. I can't believe I won't see him again. He knew me better than probably anyone in my life. He saved my life too after finding cancer. He was one of the most important people in my life. I'm sorry for your loss. I love and miss him.

I cant believe this news. I had just drafted an email to Jeffrey in which i was commenting on how the years flew by and how I couldn't believe we were both now 60 years old. We were both from Plainview (different sides of town) and both ended up in NYC. He was my doc for my entire adult life until I moved to Los Angeles in 2011. So i was writing him an email and decided to check out if he was on Facebook and then i saw the posts. What can I say? He was special and unique - both as a doctor and as a human being. Just the best. I can't really grasp that he is not with us anymore. Condolences to his husband (who he always talked about) and his family.

Kenneth Scott

February 17, 2022

Good afternoon,
My name is Kenny Scott, and I was a patient of Dr. Jeffrey Glick for over 20 years. I just found out that he passed away when I showed up for a scheduled quarterly appointment, I had with him yesterday 2/16. I was devastated to find out that he had passed away in December - his staff had not informed me. When I saw him at our last appointment back in November, he was the picture of health, and was looking forward to celebrating the upcoming holidays.
I´ve seen many, many doctors over the years, from my pediatrician to my childhood allergist to a sports medicine doctor, a dermatologist and a neurologist who helped me when my back went out in 2016. As helpful as they all were, none of them compare to Dr. Jeffrey Glick. I can genuinely say that he was one of the most compassionate, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and non-judgmental people I have ever met. He helped get me through some of the roughest times of my life, and I can truly say that he is one of the major reasons that I (try to) keep myself in the best health that I can. I was not always the best patient, but he always managed to treat me with kindness, empathy and good humor. I fell like I have lost a true friend and a therapist, as well as a doctor.
I am praying for him and his partner, his family, his friends and all of his former patients, for I understand what a devastating loss this is. I wish you all strength and peace during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Kenneth C. Scott

How is this even possible? Jeffrey is everything I read here and more. Such a beautiful person with a pure platinum heart. I too met him at MEETH. I haven´t seen him since leaving NYC decades ago, yet still I am certain that on any day we could have met even by chance and it would have been as if no time had passed. I remember him as a kind and attentive doctor and friend. I have always been grateful for the time he led me through a scary moment when I was relatively young even though I had been his patient for barely a minute. He called me at home well after work hours with test results and even accompanied me to a related specialty visit. His was a life that blessed many while making the world a much brighter place. My heart goes out to all of his family.

I am so sad to be writing this - as is true for so many, I always thought Dr. Jeffrey would be in my life. I´ll never forget my first encounter with Jeffrey - we actually didn´t meet. I was a new patient, referred by my OBGYN, Dr. Joan. I had an afternoon appointment, and I waited.... And waited.... But Dr. Jeffrey had an emergency. I couldn´t wait any longer, so I rescheduled. Imagine my surprise at 8pm that night, I got a personal phone call from Dr. Jeffrey apologizing for not being able to see me. He had never laid eyes on me before. I knew then and there, he was going to be my doc forever - and he was. I cannot express how much he impacted my life, and I know he has for so many. My heart goes out to Greg, and his family, all of his wonderful staff - and all of the people to whom he made such a difference. The world was a better place with him in it, as we all know. I have volunteered with GLWD on my own - I never knew he was so involved with that organization - again, while he knew everything about my life, I didn´t know much about his - I think about him all the time, and I´m sending all of my love to Greg and his family and staff. He will be sorely missed.

I had just become a patient of Dr. Glick at the end of November. I could tell from my meet and greet and my first appointment with him what an inspired doctor he was. My heart goes out to Greg, Dr. Glick's parents and siblings, nieces, nephew, and all the amazing co-workers in his office who loved him so. What a blessing he was to so many people and how deeply he will be missed.

I am just gutted to hear this news.
I felt so lucky to have found Dr. Glick through another physician, his friend and colleague, Dr. Ilene Fischer. He became the respected and beloved doctor to me, my husband, and eventually our grown children.
As the daughter of a doctor myself, I knew I had found a rare gem - a doctor who wanted to spend time with his patients and get to know us, care for us, worry for us so we did not have to worry ourselves, and give measured, kind, and compassionate care.
I send my heartfelt condolences to his partner and his family. Please know that he made a huge difference in the lives of so many.

I am so shocked and so, so saddened by this news. Dr. Glick was my internist for the past 15 years and he was my husband's internist for about 10 years as well. He was such an excellent physician and such a caring person, always taking the time to chat with me about work, family and the important things in life. I considered him a friend and really valued his advice. I can see Dr. Gilck has touched the lives of many others as well. I will really miss him. Sending condolences and much love to his family.

I credit Dr. Glick with saving my life by aggressively sending me for a stress test when most doctors would have said, "Cut out the salt and let's see where we are in a few months." What a loss for his lucky patients.

I first met Jeffrey when I was a young attending at MEETH and he was doing pre-surgical medical clearances. He was always available. Then he became my internist. I am devastated my his passing. His caring and exquisite manner will be hard to replace. He would come into the exam room with a smile. We would stop to chat. Any medical issue I had was addressed with sincere wisdom. He knew the best referrals. His staff was tops! Then there was the quiet unrushed review of my exam in his memory filled consultation room, filled with pictures, a piano keyboard for a while, objects that expressed his life.
That Jeffrey shall be missed is putting it mildly. My sincerest condolences to his family.

"It´s not the length of years, but the depth of years." Jeffrey was taken way too soon. But I also know he lived life to the fullest.

He saved my life on more than one occasion, and I know I´m not the only one. As such, you would think he would have earned a long, long life in the eyes of god. Sadly not the case.
I hope Jeffrey is tickling the ivories on a spectacular baby grand piano up in heaven.

You are loved, and will be greatly missed, as a Doctor and a Friend.

My first memories of Jeffrey are about his collegial relationships at MEETH. I was the newcomer, and he opened his arms to welcome me into a small group of dedicated professionals. Our bond grew as I became his patient, friend even as I remained his colleague. His warmth and deeply caring attitude will be missed by all who depended on him. My sincere and deep condolences to Greg and his family. Of course his last gift was the gift of life to strangers.

Dr Glick was the most wonderful doctor anyone could have. He made me feel like I was his only patient. He truly cared not only about my health, but personally. Does any other doctor stop by the hospital in shorts and a Tshirt on the way out to the Hamptons just to say "I was thinking about you." I'm sure the answer is no. Jeffrey, "Dr G" was one of a kind. He is and will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences to his entire family.

Jeffrey has been an integral part of every aspect of our entire family's lives for many decades, attending kids & grandkids birthday parties, bar mitzvahs, weddings & special occasions. He made himself available 24/7 for counseling and friendship, of course, in addition to providing the most amazing medical & life advice to everyone in our family. I wish Greg, Steve, Alison and family and friends my support in any way needed to help us all with Jeffrey's passing.
