When Elissa and I came to visit Jenny and Jill after they moved into their house in Greenport, Jenny showed us what she had done to the house since they moved in, and we were astonished: you had a total view of the boats moving out of Greenport towards shelter Island, and back and so much
of many other creations that helped make their house one of the most attractive houses I had seen in a long time. In addition, we have a mini house that Jenny built just for fun. That's part of who she was and what I admired most about her.

I just learned of Jenny's passing. I'm so sorry, Jill. Three Lives and the two of you were part of my life as a writer. And reader. Sending love. Susan

Dear Jill, Sending my warmest thoughts to you and all of Jenny's many friends. Vibrant as Three Lives is today, whenever I walk in, I still see all of you and smile.

My deepest sympathy to Jill, and to the rest of Jenny's family. I loved working for Jenny and Jill at the bookshop, and I have such wonderful memories of those days. Jenny was always such fun and I'm so glad that the bookshop is still there, just as she created it with Jill and Helene.

I was a high school friend of Jenny. We both attended the High School of Art and Design. A tight group of us spent so many wonderful afternoons at her home just hanging out and sharing our stories. RIP Jenny.

I'm so, so sorry for this awful news. I had my first real-ish job at Three Lives, at age 13, with Jenny and Jill at the helm, mucking out the basement (which was blisteringly hot) and learning to "remainder" books. The following year, I was lucky enough to spend some time with J&J at their truly gorgeous house in Northport, overlooking the beach. It wasn't so long ago that I was looking through my parents' wedding album only to find the both of them, grinning at the camera. Jenny will be dearly missed -- by me and so, so many others.

So sorry to read this. My friend Laurie Colwin lived Jill and Jenny . Three Lives the original was my local bookstore. May Jenny's memory be a blessing. Roger Friedman
