JEROME SHAFFER Obituary
(1929-2016) Emeritus philosophy professor at the University of Connecticut, author of the classic Philosophy of Mind, as well as Reality, Knowledge, and Value, died on November 17, 2016. He received his PhD from Princeton in 1952, was a Fulbright scholar at Oxford, and taught at Swarthmore College for 12 years. He started teaching at University of Connecticut in 1967 and became Department Head in 1976. After his retiring in 1994, he obtained a degree in marital and family therapy, which he practiced until his death. Jerry considered himself fortunate to have led a "charmed life" and wished the same for those he loved.

Jerry I miss you so much, I'm sorry that you are gone. I truly hope that you are in a better place (with lots of cookies) and are very happy. As things in my life become more hectic, I feel lost without your guidance and support. I hope you know how much you are missed.
