GITTELSON--Joan. Joan Gittelson (nee Derris), age 86. Peacefully on May 23, 2022 Born in Brooklyn, raised her family in Merrick, retired to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Beloved wife to the late Stanley B. Gittelson, MD for 52 years. Loving mother to Harry and Albert, Glenn, Anne and Bill, Madeline and Gary. Adored grandmother (Granny) to Bill and Michelle, Timmy, Joseph, Zachary, Connor, Caroline and Colin, Caroline, Morgan, Paige and Heather. Devoted sister to David. Loving aunt, cousin and friend to all who were lucky enough to know her. An amazing wife, mother and grandmother who always put family first and loved unconditionally. A successful entrepreneur with her own financial agency for over 35 years. Revered by her clients and her peers as a role model, not only for women, but for all people. An inspiration to admire always. She will be missed and loved forever. Services were held Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Gutterman's Inc, Rockville Centre.

Hi Anne and Maddie..I don´t know whether you will see this but just learned about your mom upon trying to wish her a Happy Birthday and am heartbroken. She was the most remarkable woman, kind, loving, selfless, smart, and the list goes on. May her memory be a blessing. Samantha Reiss

Your mother was a dear friend in Midwood High School.We resumed our friendship in Florida.Joan was one of the kindest,brightest,thoughtful women I have ever known.Integrity was her middle name.I shall miss her dearly.
