In her last interview Joan was asked; What is the most important lesson/point she wanted her students to remember?
Her answer, to forget all my teachings. As you can surmise, I think Joan was saying comprehension, intellectual analysis and exploration into the experience of awakening aren´t awakening. Pretty words and thoughts that might as well be pretty words about loving your dog or sister. They aren´t That. Drop all the understanding. And you will find "the peace of God, which passes all understanding..." That is where the Silence and Peace exist.

I just returned from holiday and learned of Joan's death. Joan was a special patient of mine since 1977. Not only was she a special patient but also a special appreciative person. She will be missed by all that new her in our office.
Dr. Marvin Pinchuk and staff.
