JOHN BEARDMAN

BEARDMAN--John. John L. Beardman, an abstract expressionist artist whose work has been exhibited in New York City and around the world, passed away at his home in Dingmans Ferry, PA, on January 5, 2025, at the age of 87. A man of restless creativity and wide-ranging curiosity, Beardman's life was as vibrant and textured as his paintings. He was a university professor and a lifelong learner, traveling the world, learning languages with ease, passionate about cooking, wine tasting, writing, meditation, and the workings of the world. In Nova Scotia, he built a house and cultivated a wild garden on a beach cliff overlooking the Atlantic. That property is now a summer vacation rental called Beardmans Art House that continues to honor him and his art. His later work mirrored the textures, forms and regenerative properties of the natural world. In 2017, he relocated from his East Village loft in NYC to Pike County, PA because he fell in love with the natural beauty of the area.
