John Reddy Obituary

REDDY--John Joseph. John J. Reddy (Jack) passed away on Good Friday evening, April 6th, 2007, he was 87. Jack was survived by his spouse, Mary Faughnan Reddy. He was predeceased by his first wife Teresa Finn Reddy. Jack was survived by his five children, Marie T. Reddy, Bernadette A. Cahalane, Kathleen R. Walsh, Monica R. Wood and John J. Reddy, Jr. He was also survived by sixteen grandchildren, his step-daughters, Nadine Faughnan and Thomasina Faughnan and six stepgrandchildren. A parishioner at St. Joan of Arc Church for nearly 60 years, Mr. Reddy was a former Chairperson of the Bishops Lay Committee for Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Brooklyn and the former President of the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities. Jack also served on the Board of Directors for Builders of Family and Youth. Mr. Reddy was retired; he had been an officer in the Commercial Factoring Division of Wells Fargo Bank, formerly United Merchants and Manufacturers. Family and friends will gather to remember Jack on Tuesday evening, 7-9 pm and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Leo F. Kearns Funeral Home 61-40 Woodhaven Boulevard, Rego Park, Queens. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, April 12th, at 10:15 am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 82-00 35th Avenue, Jackson Heights, NY. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be sent to either: Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Brooklyn, c/o Most Rev. Joseph M. My Uncle Jack was a unique man who I loved and admired. All his children are great people and the best cousins one could have. Jack had a presence that will be missed.

As the Patriarch of this large family he will be greatly missed. Jack was always a bit larger than life and held a very special place in our hearts.
