JOSEPH AMIEL Obituary

AMIEL--Joseph J. Author Joseph J. Amiel passed away peacefully at his home on September 29, at age 88. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Nancy, and their daughter Andrea (Jeff), son Jack (Darcy), his grandchildren, Joey, Lily and Ben, and his sister Linda. He was a proud uncle, cousin, and devoted friend. Joe was born on June 3, 1937, to Ethel and Jack Amiel in New York City. As a precocious child he worked to become a wonderful painter and sculptor and pursued a love of storytelling by publishing six novels, several articles and short stories, and two screenplays. Joe graduated from the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, with which he maintained a lifelong commitment serving on numerous boards and organizing a fund to support ethics education. Joe graduated from Amherst College and Yale Law School, and a was a member of the New York State Bar. A proud New Yorker, Joe was long-suffering fan of the Knicks, Giants and Mets. Funeral service at Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, 630 Amsterdam Avenue, on Friday, October 3rd, at 9am. Shiva to take place at 515 West End Avenue, Apt. 7D, on Friday and Sunday from 3pm to 6pm. Donations in Joseph's memory may be made to the Ethical Culture Fieldston School at ECFS.org
