JOSEPH KATZ

KATZ--Joseph Lawrence, of Gardiner, NY, known to all as Joe, died January 1 at the age of 89. Born and raised in Flushing, NY, he was a graduate of Bayside High School and Cornell University. Joe worked in the knitwear industry as the founder of the Studio for Knit Design in Manhattan, which became the Knit Resource Center. Since childhood, Joe loved to spend weekends at his family home in Gardiner, NY, where he later served two terms as the Town Supervisor. Joe loved to garden, and shared his bounty with friends, his Bruynswick Farm Stand and local food banks. Joe will be forever missed by his wife, Pattie Eakin; his children Sandor (Daniel), Lizzi (Steve), and Jonathan (Amy); grandchildren Sadie, Cobe and Aksel; and extended family and friends.
