JUDITH PARDES Obituary

PARDES--Judith. Judith Ellen Silber Pardes of New York, NY died on April 11, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born on January 4, 1935, in Newark, NJ. The only child of Cy Saul Silber and Harriet Fishbein Silber, she attended Weequahic High School where she was a member of the Honor Society, twirling squad, Contemporary, and Chess Clubs. Upon graduating, she was awarded a NJC Award Scholarship to attend Douglass College. She graduated with high honors in political science and was elected membership in Phi Beta Kappa. It was there that she met Herbert Pardes, who was a student at Rutgers University. They married in 1957 and raised three sons in Brooklyn, NY, Englewood, CO, and Potomac, MD before moving back to New York City. Her career included public school educator, writer for The Potomac Times, executive assistant at Daiwa Securities, and most recently office coordinator at CUNY TV. Judith loved traveling, the arts, literature, the New York Times crossword puzzle, Scrabble, cooking, and spending time with her family. Contributions in her memory can be made to any organization supporting the performing arts in honor of her love of the symphony, ballet, and theatre. She is survived by her devoted family: Dr. Herbert Pardes, Stephen (Claude), Lawrence (Abby), James (Pamela), Alexander, Zachary, Samantha, Madeline, Jake, and Dylan.

I worked with Judith for many years at CUNY TV. She was a terrific colleague and such a help on the production of our program we taped there for PBS, Theater Talk.
