JULIET DILLER Obituary

DILLER--Juliet C., passed away on April 26, 2023 after a long and full life. Born in Brooklyn to new immigrants, Meyer and Manya Cooper, she graduated from Brooklyn College and earned her PhD at NYU. She practiced psychology for more than 65 years, up until the time of her death. A loving mother and grandmother, she had a magnetic personality, wonderful sense of humor, and brilliant mind. She was a mix of idealism, pragmatism, and passion. She cared very deeply about the well being of her patients. She is survived by her children, Wendy and Matthew Diller, daughter-in-law Kit Kennedy, grandchildren Alex, Gabriel and Natalya Brill and Michael and Peter Diller. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Blanche, and husbands Leonard Diller and Leon Demb. Funeral service will be on Friday, April 28th at 9:30 am at Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, 630 Amsterdam Avenue. She will live forever in our hearts and memories.

I have so much love and appreciation for Juliet. I was her client back in the 80s when I first moved to NYC and whenever I think of her now our sessions come alive vividly; as if we were together yesterday. She possessed this brilliant capacity of being keenly confrontative and deeply caring all within the span of 50 minutes. Wow did she find her wheelhouse...I´m not a bit surprised that her family and friends enjoyed and appreciated all of her many wonderful qualities. I remember once when I got to her office down on the tip of our city early and we ended up walking together to her office. Her smile when she saw me was so delightful and loving...we walked together in silence and as I think back now, I suspect we were holding the awareness of the joy and pain of life in such a poignant/tender way. My heart goes out to her loved ones. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Juliet....

Dr. Diller was my therapist when I started at Queens College and had a great deal of anxiety. She was patient, kind, and understanding. Without her guidance I would never been able to accomplish my goal of becoming a teacher. Fifty years have passed, but I will never forget her counsel. My deepest sympathy to her family.
