Laurie Linton Obituary

LINTON-Laurie. The Board, staff and members of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force mourn the death of Laurie Linton, a courageous and tireless leader for gay and lesbian rights. In government and as a longtime board member of the Pride Agenda and the Stonewall Community Foundation, she was instrumental in reforming anti-gay policies, passing civil rights legislation, and building our community's organizations. Her extraordinary intel ligence, wisdom, humor, and commitment touched us all and will be sorely missed. Jeff Soref and Beth Zemsky, Co-Chairs Matt Foreman, Executive Director

Laurie was an amazainly intelligent woman whose passion for public service is an inspiration to us all.

The GLBT community surely has lost a special advocate for gay rights.

She will be missed.

I first met Laurie in 1968 when I was five years old. We met at summer camp and she has been my sister's best friend, as well as a part of our family ever since. I cannot remember ever having a sunday dinner or a christmas dinner without her. Laurie will remain forever a part of my soul and my heart. I will do my best to pass down to my children all the extraordinary morals and values and high level of integrity that Laurie held within her, and also shared with this world...A world very lucky to have had Laurie in it. Laurie Ann, you are forever part of my life, and I thank you with all of my heart for the many wonderful memories that I have of you and our family together. Be at peace, my love.

Laurie was an extrodinary woman with whom I had the privilege to have as a friend.Laurie is also one of the most selfless people in the world that touches the heart of all the people she meets. In her most difficult time she always thought to ask about you or others in your life that may not have been doing well, she always remembered and cared enough to ask. Laurie you will be missed and thought of often.

We will meet again in the next life.
