LAWRENCE GOLDNER Obituary

GOLDNER--Lawrence R., on May 15, 2023 at the age of 92. Devoted husband of Kathleen Goldner for 66 years, beloved father of Andrew (Connie) and Tony (Liz), cherished grandfather of Katie, Morgan, and Olivia, brother of Selma Schiff and preceded in death by brother Sigmund Goldner and sister Ann Marx, and friend and colleague to many. Born in Brooklyn on August 28, 1930, he was raised in Queens, served in the US Army, went to CCNY and ultimately earned a PhD in education from NYU. He was a social studies teacher, assistant principal, and principal in the New York City school system. Following retirement in 1988, he was a professor in the School of Education at St. John's University for many years. Services will be private with a celebration of life to proceed at a later date. Services entrusted to Martin A. Gleason Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to UNICEF www.unicefusa.org or US Olympic Committee www.teamusa.org in Lawrence's memory would be appreciated.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Goldner family during this difficult time. Even though I hadn't seen him for a very long time, I never forgot his kindness to me. He helped me out of a difficult situation at St. John's and didn't seem to judge. May you rest in peace Dr. Goldner. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
