LEE BROZGOL Obituary

BROZGOL--Lee. Lee Brozgol died peacefully on October 3, 2021, age 80. Born in Detroit and raised in Chicago, Lee moved to NYC in his 20's, drawn to the vibrant city. He worked as a filmmaker, visual artist and clinical social worker, inspiring others and enriching his community. Lee was a lifelong radical outsider, an independent spirit and lightning rod personality. His legacy is one of inspiration and care as a teaching artist, therapist, mentor, husband and father. His public art includes the iconic Greenwich Village murals in the Christopher Street subway station. Donations can be made in his honor to Die Jim Crow Records www.diejimcrow.com the first non-profit U.S. record label for currently and formerly incarcerated artists, founded by his son Fury Young. Lee's wife Alizah, and sons Royal and Fury will continue to live and love in his honor. May his memory be a blessing and revolution for us.

Alizah, I am sorry for the loss of Lee. I feel so fortunate to have spoken with him back in February since we had been out of communication for several years. I worked with Lee at Visions, I enjoyed being his supervisor and his co-worker. He brought a wonderful passion to his work and inspired so many of our clients in such great ways through his counsel and through his art. I still have a beautiful picture he framed for me. Now I will look at it and remember how wonderful Lee was. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Annie

Alizah, Fury and Royal, I am so sorry Lee died! I appreciated his friendship immensely. We got closer when he would come to the Catskills with Alizah and their dog to visit friends. My daughter, Perrylee, also really enjoyed their visits. I pray your pain really ease with time! Look at the beautiful art he made for me!
