LEONA CHANIN Obituary

CHANIN--Leona. The officers, board, and staff of the American Technion Society (ATS) mourn the loss of Leona Chanin of Palm Beach, FL. A Technion Guardian who had reached the highest level of support for the University, she was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Technion Board of Governors, a Life Trustee of the ATS Board of Regents, a former member of the ATS National BOD, and a pillar of ATS - Palm Beach since its founding. Together with her beloved late husband Marcy, and brother-in-law Paul, she established the Paul R. and Marcy Chanin Genetic Engineering Building and the Chanin Graduate Student Fellowship. Her many gifts to the Technion also included the Leona Chanin Career Development Chair and the Palm Beach Graduate Student Fellowship. For her consistent devotion over many years, Mrs. Chanin was honored with the Einstein Award, the highest honor bestowed by the ATS, in 2012, and a Technion Honorary Fellowship in 2004. We extend our condolences to her children James Chanin, Ann Gold, and Nancy Chanin, and the entire family. American Technion Society Steve Berger, President; Zahava Bar-Nir, Chair of the Board; Michael Waxman-Lenz, CEO; Caren Winer, Director of Leadership Giving

Leona was an energetic, fun and warm friend of Naomi Levine and our family in NY, Greylock and Palm Beach. Her jokes and lively manner will be missed.
