LEONARD LAUDER Obituary

LAUDER--Leonard A. The Board of Trustees and the entire Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) community extend our deepest sympathy on the passing of Leonard A. Lauder, who was a champion of pediatric orthopedics in honor of his dear friend Dr. Leon Root, and whose extraordinary generosity drove breakthroughs in medical research and improved the lives of patients around the world. He was a dedicated and beloved partner in advancing the HSS mission, establishing the Leon Root MD Chair in Pediatric Spine Surgery, the Leonard A. Lauder Chair for Innovation in Pain Management, and, with his brother Ronald, the Lauder Family Spine Center at HSS. Leonard was a dear friend to many members of the HSS medical staff and leadership, and we extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Judy Glickman Lauder, his sons Gary Lauder and William Lauder, his brother Ronald Lauder, and the entire Lauder family. Thomas H. Lister, Co-Chair, Board of Trustees; Robert K. Steel, Co-Chair, Board of Trustees; Bryan T. Kelly, MD, President and CEO; Douglas E. Padgett, MD, Surgeon-in-Chief and Medical Director; Richard L. Menschel, Chairman Emeritus and Life Trustee, Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS)

I only met Leonard once and he inspires me to this day. A warm, friendly and genuine man, the kind you so rarely find today. May God bless and send his graces to the Lauder family where he will be missed.
