LESTER KRONFELD
KRONFELD--Lester. Devoted husband, most wonderful father and cherished grandfather, died on Saturday, August 18, 2012. Lester was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on May 7,1925 to Esther and Leo Kronfeld. Lester proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Quincy from 1943 to 1946. He proudly represented his country on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and transported President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference in 1945. Lester's lasting legacy is the founding of Lester's with his wife, Lillian, in Brooklyn, NY in 1948. Lester's is a family-owned and operated clothing store and New York landmark. Lester's pure love for the business and his customers filled his stores with warmth and enjoyment that have kept 4 generations coming back to the stores for years. Lester's greatest joy in life was his family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillian; his loving children, Stanley, Gary, Sheri and son-in-law Perry, and Gary's fiance Susan; his five adoring grandchildren, Lauren, Jaclyn, Alexander, Harrison and Julie; and his brother, Donald. Lester was a very special man who touched the heart of each person that he met. To say that he will be greatly missed is an understatement; to know him was to love him. He will be profoundly missed by his family, his friends, his colleagues and his customers. Services today 1pm at Gutterman's, 8000 Jericho Tpke. Woodbury, LI.
