1935 - 2024

KRUGER--Lewis, (November 14, 1935-August 3, 2024), beloved husband of Laura (Masoff) for 67 years; adoring son, son-in-law of Barnet and Sara (Denburg) Kruger and Ed and Dora (Galperin) Masoff. Devoted brother-in-law of Myrna Masoff (dec.), Joy Masoff (Lou Scolnik). Adoring father of Alix (Jeff Townley), Hillary Kruger (Judd Kruger Levingston). Nurturing grandfather of Ivan Barnet (Lilian Zhu), Miranda Bernice, Serena Dora Kruger Levingston, Eli Henry and Addison Lewis Townley. Generous and welcoming host, eager raconteur, unstoppable arts enthusiast, adventurous traveler, trusted friend. Brooklyn-bred, he played neighborhood stickball, attending Franklin K. Lane High School (and many Dodgers games), earning honors. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in economics from Harvard College, serving in the US Army reserves before attending Columbia University School of Law. A senior managing partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, he loved his work and was a leader in his field, serving as a liaison for the International Bar Association to the United Nations and spearheading projects such as the restructuring of Residential Capital. With Laura, he supported and served on the boards of trustees at the Hebrew Union College, New York; the Kaufman Music Center; and the Museum of Art and Design. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, August 6th at Congregation B'nai Jeshurun Chapel, 270 West 89th Street (entry closer to West End Ave.) at 10am. Private burial and shiva.
