KNOTT--Lynda Susan Murphy. Lynda Susan Murphy Knott of Chicago, IL, a revered public relations professional, passed away on November 20, 2023. She is survived by her children, Jack and Shelby; her mother Beverly; her sisters Jeanne Malnati (Marc) and Kathleen Deveny (Christopher); her brother Daniel Murphy, and her adored nieces and nephews. Lynda founded Murphy Knott Public Relations in 1984 and led the agency for nearly four decades, helping to craft the corporate messaging of local and national household brands like Miller Brewing, IBM, Lou Malnati's, Stanley Black & Decker and The Chicago Marathon. Her life, lived with purpose and grace, will remain a beacon of inspiration and beauty to all who knew her.

I was deeply sadden to learn of Lynda's death. We were friends, colleagues and confidentes. We regularly met prior to the pandemic so it greatly pains me that as the world got fragmented and then back to some norlmacy that we had lost touch. I truly hope you did not suffer my friend and am happy that you are in a place of peace. Lynda only got more beautiful over the years. She had a love for the business but an even greater and unwavering devotion to her children Shelby and Jack. Prayers and peace to all.

Lynda!! This is a love letter to you, one of the best people I´ve ever known in both my personal and professional lives. You´ve been my touchstone since the 80´s when you trusted me and my fledgling event business to assist with your client projects. You were so young and already so successful... Poised, beautiful, easy, kind, fair with people who you hired, your clients trusted you implicitly, your common sense and big ideas landed prime coverage. As our lives changed and our careers grew over the years, I cherished our lunches and conversations. I will miss your sunshine, optimism and wise counsel, and cannot believe I will never see you again! Sending much love and strength to your family

I was stunned to see this obituary in today's Chicago Tribune. I worked with Lynda at Golin-Harris in the early 1980s, before she left to form her own company. What a beautiful, kind and lovely woman she was. We had a mutual friend in the PR world and the three of us would socialize occasionally. One day we met up with her outside of her place, as she had been walking her dog. She exclaimed that we (her still single girlfriends) should get a dog, as the animal apparently attracted men left and right. It was so sweet and we thought to ourselves, "oh yes, I'm sure the dog had a lot to do with men coming up to make conversation with her". I never grasped it at the time, but clearly she was one of the early professional women success stories, done with style and grace.

First off, I am saddened at the news of her passing. The Lynda I remember from high school obviously carried forth into her career path and to her family. In high school, she was an amazing person always there and respected everyone.

My best memory was before I had decided to move to Texas when I lived in the apartments near the junior high school. I don't remember what the event was but I do remember Lynda and I walking out to the football field late at night. We sat at center field and had a wonderful conversation that border lined on intimate. Good time and a great memory. It was certainly hard to move to Texas after that but the wheels were in motion and could not be stopped. I often thought about reaching out but life got in the way.

Reading the obit makes me happy to know her life was vibrant and fulfilling.

The value of life and how it can impact others is obvious. What a blessing she was to her family and others.

She will be missed.

Lynda and I spent several years together on the Board of Directors for Designs for Dignity. Lynda was a special soul, always a burst of positive energy and love of life. I remember a special time when Lynda hosted the board at her Lincoln Park home for a rooftop party, a special time where we shared life stories and learned about her son and daughter, she was so proud. Lynda we love you, sending prayers as you are healthy now, a soul watching over us all with pure love. XO

Lynda was such a burst of power and energy. We served together on the Board of Directors for Designs for Dignity and spent many a day in planning and conducting charity events. I remember she hosted a rooftop board of directors party at her home in Lincoln Park, such happy times. I truly loved being in her presence. My heart is with her family, friends and everyone in her life, we will miss her dearly. Love to you Lynda, your soul is healthy and free, sharing the love and watching over us all. xo
