Mark LaMura, Husband, Father, Brother, Friend and Actor
Emmy Award nominated actor, Mark LaMura, died on Monday, September 11, 2017 in New York City. He was 68.
Mark became known well for his decade long role as Mark Dalton on ABC's All My Children. Law, Matlock, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Gossip Girl, 30 Rock, The Sopranos, The Russia House, Damages, The Wizard of Lies and Something Borrowed. His versatility as an actor also enabled him to perform on stage, including performances in the Broadway production of Dinner at Eight, Aida, Domesticated, off-Broadway productions of The Odd Couple and The Rise of Dorothy Hale, the national tour of Art and as the Pharaoh in the national tour of Aida. Mark participated in a number of roles in numerous seasons with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival. In his personal life, he also contributed and dedicated time to those in need. He was involved with the Special Olympics and volunteered during times of natural disasters.
Son of Robert E. LaMura and Elizabeth Devlin LaMura, Mark was raised in Monmouth County, NJ, and lived most of his adult life in New York City and Los Angeles.
Mark's greatest joy was his family, whom he adored. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Maclellan, who is also an actor, and by their daughter, Gabrielle, a recent graduate of ABT's Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School. Mark is also survived by his 5 siblings.
Mark attended Mater Dei High School in Middletown, NJ, and graduated from St. Joseph's College in Indiana in 1970 and earned an M.F.A. from Kent State University's School of Theater in 2000.
Mark passed away due to complications from lung cancer, a journey that he met with persistence, courage and grace, as this is how he approached his life.
A funeral service will be held at The Church of Saint Paul the Apostle, located on Columbus Avenue at West 60th Street in New York City, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017, and all friends are welcome to come and celebrate his life. Mark was a classmate at St. Joe. He was always a gentleman and hard-working Thespian. Our last encounter was a 1980 career day at St Joe. Needless to say, Mark's sessions drew big crowds of adoring fans. He was gracious and encouraging to the students.

Mark remembering our Blackwood days back in the sixties and our reunion in recent years.
You were always a leading actor in our Drama High School Club at Mother of the Savior Seminary.
My wife still has the picture we took with you and her at our Blackwood reunion on our refrigerator at home.
Now you're with Frs. Lawrence and Malachy putting on a great show I imagine.
Rest in peace buddy. You were a great classmate.
