Raphael and Ravelle,
Thank you very much for your notes to honor Marsha, my mom. Raphael, I think it's wonderful that you still remember her class and feel her enthusiasm for reading and literature made a positive difference in your life. I know that she taught hundreds of students and mentored numerous teachers. She also made a huge difference in my life and that of my brother.

Marsha Tobias was my English teacher in 11th and 12th grade in 77 and 78 at Seward Park High School. She was a kind and inspiring teacher. She was the kind of teacher who made us look forward to school. She was the kind of woman who made students believe they could be part of something bigger than themselves. She was the kind of teacher who made reading for reading sake seem like a natural part of life. I'd always wished as an adult that I could thank her in person for the belief in life and learning she imparted. It is too late for that, but I'd like her kin to know, she made me a better man and her influence has always been with me. I hope she went to her death knowing she left the world a better place. RIP Marsha Tobias. You were a real mensch.

Deepest condolences to the family. Will always remember Marsha's kind heart! We worked many years together at Seward.

I'm so sorry to read of Marsha's death. Although we had not been in touch in many years, I have fond memories of her from our days in London--where we met--and from our years as neighbors and young mothers in Greenwich Village. My condolences to the family on the loss of Marsha and on the previous death of Jonathan. RIP, and l'chaim.
