MARTHA BAROTZ

BAROTZ--Martha. Our loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother Martha Barotz, nee Granirer, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. NY. Martha was 83 years old and a long-time resident of New Rochelle, NY. Martha was born in Rockaway Beach, NY, one of four children of the late Dr. Louis and Minna Granirer of Belle Harbor, NY. A few years after Martha graduated from Adelphi University, she met her future husband, Peter, on a blind date, and they married six months later. They settled into a brownstone on 3rd Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn. After their first child was born, the family moved to their home in New Rochelle where she would spend the rest of her life. While she was a voracious reader and a woman of keen intellect and curiosity, Martha's love was her family. She created a loving home full of healthy food and an appreciation for alternative approaches towards health and healing. Martha is survived by her husband, Peter of 61 years, her daughters, Naomi Pollack and Celia Barotz, her son, Nathan Barotz, her son-in-law, Dr. Seth Pollack and daughter-in-law, Dr. Carrie Lederman Barotz, her four grandchildren, Alex Pollack, Maya Pollack, Caitlin Barotz and Matthew Barotz, her sister, Sarah Milstein and her brother, Sam Granirer. Martha was preceded in death by her sister, Doral Schmidt. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 1pm at The Chapel in the Woods, Congregation Kol Ami, White Plains, NY. Burial will follow at the Mount Eden Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
