Dr. Moser's work, I'm sure, was greatly appreciated by the many lives he assisted. How comforting to know that he will be remembered by his Creator (Malachi 3:16).

Marv and I started working together on The Journal of Clinical Hypertension in 1999 when I was a young writer and over the years he guided me to be a better writer and physician than I would have become had I not known him. For this I remain forever grateful.
Jo Ellen and I got to break bread with Joy and Marv at Kiawah one spring here in Charleston when Marv was our invited speaker but it was hard to ever get Marv away from the Adirondacks in the summer for our summer ASH chapter meeting. He loved his family so and would never give up that special time with them.
Until the end he had his priorities in order and loved his family. Families often sacrifice to enable someone like Marv to achieve all he was able to achieve. Marv loved his family and was grateful to them for supporting his many accomplishments in life.
He was a "mench" in the true sense of the word and has done as much for clinical hypertension as anyone I can think of. I was lucky to have him as a mentor and will miss him greatly. It just won't be the same without him!

Hi Ms Moser
Regret that we did not meet but I did work with Dr. Moser on his rare visits to PHL to spread the JNC gospel. He left a great legacy and I was priviliged to work with him for many years at the Journal of Clinical Hypertension.

Dear Joy...I read of Marv's death with sadness...I have such happy memories of lakeside and tennis court meetings with you both, his kindness, interest in people, enjoyment of our lovely lake surroundings, vigorous tennis...we missed you across the lake last summer and worried. I am deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Moser - I loved Marv and valued his friendship and guidance in matters of medical communication and in the more poignant lessons in life. He loved his family tremendously, always talking about their times spent together in the Adirondacks. I am fortunate to have had a friend with such knowledge, compassion and exemplary integrity. My condolences to Joy and his children and grandchildren.

It was my privilege to work with Dr. Moser extensively during the 1980s on a variety of health education journalism projects, including his book "Week by Week to a Strong Heart." He impressed me hugely with his compassion for his patients, his rigorous mind, and his feisty delight in engaging in the controversies of the day within the medical community. He was also a generous and respectful collaborator. Most of all, he cared about the human beings behind the clinical trials, data, and policy that can too often separate the "thought leaders" of medicine from the rest of us. He was a giant.
