MATTHEW WEISMAN Obituary

WEISMAN--Matthew Lee.

It is with great sadness that the family of Matthew Lee Weisman announces his passing on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the age of 55. Matthew was the consummate New Yorker - always ready to curate the perfect New York day for his loved ones, filling it with the right combination of art, music, and theatre, and always topping it off with a complete critique of the experience at his latest restaurant find. Matthew is predeceased by his mother, Lora, and is lovingly remembered by his father, Daniel, and his stepmother, Barbara; his siblings Andrea (Mark) and Michael (Deborah); and his nieces and nephews, Geoff, Terry (David), Benjamin (Lindsey), and Elizabeth. Matthew will also be remembered by his step-siblings, Alex (Cindy), Lori (Anthony), Eli (Tracy), and their children; his cousins, the Hellers, Korins, and Kersteins; and his many wonderful friends and colleagues. A memorial service will be held at 11:30am on Monday, December 11, at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 West 76th Street in Manhattan, followed by a graveside service at Beth-El Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue in Paramus, New Jersey. The family will be observing Shiva on Monday and Tuesday at Daniel's home in Manhattan. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matthew's memory to the Mountainside Scholarship Fund by calling 860-362-5001 or by mailing a check to: Mountainside Scholarship, P.O. Box 717, Canaan, CT 06018.

It is so hard to know that you left us three years ago. It always seems like it was yesterday. Missing you always. You are truly loved.

Two years of not seeing you, not sharing meals with you, not speaking on the phone, not sharing laughs, not seeing your critiques of the awards shows and and the fashion on those shows- the list can go on and on.
To say that you are missed doesn't even scrape the surface.
You will always be a true blessing and forever loved.
It doesn't get easier. It just gets different.❤

Matthew moved more people than he would have ever thought possible or have taken credit for. His classmates from Birch Wathen are all saddened. Matthew was responsible for spearheading the effort to bring the class back together after many years of minimal contact for many of us. He will be missed by all. I played many a Words with Friends game with him and find myself still waiting for his next move. Thanks Matthew for bringing light and laughter.

My deepest condolences to the Weisman family and regrets that I could not attend Matthew's memorial. I will do something with his friends in his honor. I am still in shock and will miss him so very much.

Our lives were blessed by you. You truly were one of a kind and we loved you so. But you knew that.

I am sure going to miss you Matthew. You left us way too soon. You were part of my family for so long. Rip my friend until we meet again.
