MICHAEL SLUTZKY Obituary

SLUTZKY--Michael, DDS, passed peacefully after a brief battle with lung cancer at the age of 82 at Mount Sinai Hospital, West in the presence of his loving family. To say he was simply a beloved and devoted husband to his wife of 58 years, Carol, father to Steve (Jill), Mark (Debbie), Debra (Ian) and Stuart (Susan) and grandfather to Natasha, Amanda, Bekah, Cameron, Jacob, Emily, Julian, Gabby and Jessica while being true would only tell part of his story. As a member of the CCNY class of 1961 and a 1965 graduate from the prestigious NYU Dental School, Doctor Slutzky was a fixture in his Bensonhurst/Borough Park neighborhood for well over 50 years up until the time of his death. To also say he was simply a beloved dentist is only part of his story. As a five decade resident of Manhattan, as well as upstate New York, he became such an accomplished painter and baker that people paid for his services in both endeavors. For all his talents and accomplishments it is his strength, empathy, teddy bear hugs and love we will miss the most. At his request there will be no funeral. Instead, the family plans a Celebration of his life in the spring so all of his family and friends may attend.

So terribly sorry to hear about this. Dr. Skutzky was our family dentist for well over 50 years and we knew Carol so well also. This is so sad. He was so funny and such a great person. I hope that his beautiful family finds comfort in his memory as well all do.
Love, Jackie (Graber) Manduley and all the Grabers and Manduleys

First I would like to give my condolences to Dr Slutsky´s wife Carol, His four children Steven , Mark , Debra and Stewart and all of his grandchildren. Dr. Slutsky has been my dentist for about 51 years !!! He was a very compassionate generous man who not only loved what he did he was excellent at it ! He cared for his patients If you couldn´t afford and you were in pain he would never charge you on the spot He would call and check in on you to see how you were doing no matter what time of the day or where he was! He was an excellent dentist one if a kind who truly cared and Would never do unnecessary work I till this day still have fillings that he put in my mouth lol. I know he was a beautiful artist he would sometimes show me his work and one time my family and I were upstate and we stopped in BBQ and saw his artwork on the walls it was simply amazing he was a magnificent artist . He will truly truly be so missed in the neighborhood everyone loved him he was number one!! My heart feels a little heavy today hearing this sad news , with tears in my eyes , I would like to say it was truly an honor to be his patient may you rest in eternal peace Michael and may God watch over your family
