AIGEN--Mitchell, "Mitch," "Mickey," "Zayde," was born on December 29, 1931, in New York City. He grew up in East New York, Brooklyn, and was a proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, New York University where he majored in accounting, Brooklyn Law School, and NYU Law School, earning LLB and LLM degrees. He was a CPA and passed the New York bar exam. He served in the Army 1954-1956. He started his career at Eisner & Lubin and left to be a founding partner of Richard A. Eisner & Company (EisnerAmper LLP). Mitch was the firm's tax expert and grew the firm from three employees to one that employed hundreds. He was a prominent tax expert who was in high demand until his retirement due to a stroke in 1990. He was a passionate supporter of Israel, a variety of Jewish causes, and the progressive Jewish movement of Reconstructionism, serving on the Board of Directors of the Reconstructionist Synagogue of the North Shore. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Philadelphia, which has graduated more than 450 rabbis who serve congregations around the world. Mitch loved literature, art, music, and theater. In sharing his favorite books, films, plays, and singers, he passed this love on to his children and grandchildren. He was fanatic in his support of the Knicks, Jets, and Mets, but he never forgave the Dodgers for leaving his beloved borough. Mitch was an avid golfer, first taking it up after his stroke. Against all odds, he had two holes-in-one at his home course of Frenchman's Creek in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and won several golf tournaments. He met the love of his life, Maxine Riemer, at the age of 16. They had been inseparable ever since and recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. His memory will be cherished by his children, Kenneth (Marisol Kaminski), Amy (Dana Fried), and Glenn (Melissa Fine); by his grandchildren, Samantha (Noah Posnick), Melanie (Ralph Lerman), Sara, Alexander, Daniel, and Jonathan; his brother-in-law Keith Riemer (Ameena); his nieces Ali and Sydney; and great-grandchildren on the way. He will be in our hearts with love forever. He passed away on September 11, 2022, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Port Washington, NY. Nothing mattered more to Mitch than family. Donations in his memory to Power of Two, an agency founded in Mitch's hometown of Brooklyn and focused on serving children and families, would be greatly appreciated.
