MONTAGUE HACKETT Obituary

HACKETT--Montague H., Jr., (Monte), age 89 of New York and Southampton, died on January 1, 2022 of acute respiratory failure. He was the son of Montague H. and Flavia R. Hackett, very devoted husband of Mayme, proud and loving father of Melinda and Monte III, his three grandchildren, Herron, Hazel and Minnie, and his brother Randall. He was a graduate of St. Paul's School, Concord, NH, Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, and Harvard Law School, Cambridge, MA. He practiced law for approximately eight years as associate and partner in the law firm of Kirlin, Campbell & Keating, mainly servicing Johnson & Higgins, a large Wall Street insurance brokerage firm. Subsequently he served as Executive Vice President and Director of Bridger Petroleum, Ltd., a Calgary based oil and gas exploration company. He later served as co-chairman of International Gold Resources Corp. from 1993 until sale of the company in 1996 to Ashanti Goldfields Corp. He previously had served as chairman of American Gold Resources from 1988-1993. He also served from 1989-1994 as President and Director of Wood River Capital Corp., a small business investment corporation (venture capital) as well as chairman of Garnet Resources Corporation and a Director of First International Oil Corp. He later became co-chairman of Victory Ventures, an investment firm, and a Director of International Energy Services, Inc. In lieu of flowers, it would be very much appreciated if any gifts in his memory could be sent to the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, Inc., 1930 Randall Avenue, Bronx, NY 10473 in his name. A memorial service for him will be held on a date to be determined.

Dear Mayme, We are so sorry to have learned of Monty's passing on January 1st! I'll write you now that I know, and hopefully we'll catch up soon. We've been in East Hampton, where it has been easier for Ted, but so out of touch. We send you, Melinda and Monty and his grandchildren all our prayers. We hope you all get thru this difficult time as best as possible.
Affectionately, The Terrys

As the executive Director of the Kips Bay Boys And Girls Club we offer our condolences and a gracious appreciation for MONTAGUE HACKETT and his family. Kips Bay has been a thriving youth development organization which serves over 10,000 children in the Bronx and we would nowhere be successful if it wasn´t for Monte´ leadership ,support and gracious generosity! He will be sorely missed by the KipsBay community. Rest with Angels dear friend!!
