to Aliya, Orli & Sivan:

We were very saddened to have found out about Moshe's untimely death.

Reading of his many accomplishments, we were astounded of how much we did know. It is a testament to his humbleness and integrity.

In the Jewish tradition, when a person passes away he does not take leave of this world for so much of himself is left with the people included in his sphere of influence. His sphere was indeed large and he will be sorely missed.

Aliya -- I am so sorry to hear about your loss. We have not been in touch for more than 30 years, I think, though I have thought of you many times and wondered how you were doing when I have seen Moshe's name or yours in the news. May Moshe's memory be a blessing. I know how hard it is; I lost my Mike 3 years ago. The memories are wonderful; the pain and loneliness subside, but they don't completely go away. Perhaps we will have a chance to catch up sometime soon. Hamakom yenachem etchem.

I am thankful that Moshe was able to share his insights and his wonderful musical talent to many people across the nation and the world. I was glad to have the opportunity to see him perform in Seattle a few months ago. I will be forever grateful to have met him in person, even though it would only be once. My condolences to his family and friends.

Besides the smiling face across from me at the seder table each year, as he told some wonderful story that added to our understanding of the night or as he raised an arm and sang out "hey" as we sang after him, what I will remember most about Moshe, is that he was a man who became happier in the years I knew him. I watched this over the years of our families' friendship. He made decisions about changing his life, and he took more and more enjoyment in his life as he fulfilled his promises to himself. It was a pleasure to observe, and it is a lasting gift of friendship I hope I can emulate in my own life. I will also remember how he loved his wife and children, how he was always concerned for me and my family, and how his stillness calmed everyone near him. I miss him already.

With enormous sadness, I mourn the loss of someone I have considered a friend and an inspiration since a black-and-white cat first introduced us ten years ago. It was a privilege to get to know Moshe and write two articles about him, and I extend my deepest sympathy to his family.

Moshe was always willing to teach me something, whether it was music related or related to Judaism. He helped me prepare for my bat-mitzvah and was one of many that made my bat mitzvah more than just a ceremony in a synagogue. In high school, I spent 3 weeks living with Moshe and Aliya. I would remember coming back from summer classes to hear Moshe playing the piano. It would always bring a smile to my face.
Through his teachings and his music, he will live on.
