MURRAY BECKERMAN Obituary

BECKERMAN--Murray. Beloved husband of Renee Rimsky Beckerman and the late Hazel Hart Beckerman, he died peacefully in his Manhattan residence at the age of 100. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII, then graduated from the University of Rochester in 1948 and Cornell Law School in 1951. His distinguished legal career spanned more than six decades until his retirement at the age of 89. In addition to his reverence for the law, he was a devoted father to Peter Hart Beckerman who predeceased him, and Martha Hart Birnbaum, who survives him along with her husband, Richard Birnbaum. He was also a beloved grandfather to Kate Hart Regan and Timothy Hart Birnbaum, who survive him along with their spouses, Michael Regan and April Birnbaum. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren - Thomas, Liam and Jack Regan and Henry and Charlotte Birnbaum. A private ceremony will be held on June 6, 2025, in Rochester, NY. Contributions may be made in his memory to Central Synagogue.

Murray Beckerman was a brilliant, warm and kind person who touched the lives of everyone he
met. Sandy and I first met Murray when I became the Head of The Harley School in Rochester
New York. During our many meetings and dinners together, we became good friends. First
and foremost, Murray loved and was very proud of his family. He was very generous and
contributed to making the world a better place in so many ways. He preferred to stay in the
background, and never wanted to be in the spotlight. He also had a great sense of humor, and
always enjoyed hearing a good joke. Murray´s legacy will live on in his wonderful family and
friends as well as in everyone he helped through his generosity and many acts of loving kindness

Our deepest condolences go out to the Beckerman & Birnbaum families for the great loss of Murray, an incredible, strong, loving man whose vivacious spirit carried him to live to 100! Having been lucky to him for over 25 years through my dear friend and his grandson Tim, I know how deeply he will be missed by so many, but the happy memories will be cherished by all forever. May we all live with his zest for life and sense of purpose.
