Ned was one of the younger guys in our group who lived and played on 79th street and grew up into men there. Later in life Ned would tell stories of the people and places from that time in the old neighborhood. To everyone, Ned was their friend.
Rest In Peace old friend.

Words cannot describe how sorry we are for your loss. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers in your time of grief. We will never forget what a wonderful person Ned was. He was a colleague and a friend. He was always happy, full of life and made us laugh. We haven't seen Ned in quite a while but had recently been in touch. It was always a pleasure to speak with him and reminiscence of times gone by. Ned, my friend Rest in Eternal Peace. Larry & Barbara

i cant say anything about "edward" cause i only knew him as NED.
Ned and i grew up together on 79th street. he did not know me as henry tom (which is my real name) he called me Hank. im still hank, but only for my old friends from brooklyn. i lived up the street from him at 340 79st. he lived on the left hand side of the apt, called rose court? on the 1st or 2nd floor facing the street. his brother john was more my brothers age, (peter syrdahl) and his sister( Eileen) was often together hanging out at the gas station on the corner reading comics etc.
i moved to norway with my mom in 1972, after FHHS.. i meet NED a few times on some of my visits back to brooklyn , last time at Bubbles at my brothers stick ball game he has every year.
its been 2-3 years since i was on 79th st. and i like how it looks now, trees that were not there from the middle of the block towards 3rd ave. .... i miss bay ridge. had a good life there. a smile comes across my face when ever i find old pictures from that time, i know that somewhere i have a foto of me, doug( malone) and Ned outsde of my house during a winter , with snow etc. must be about 60 years old ,( i.m 68 )
i was informed of neds death from my brother who had heard it from his friend bill halvosen.
I'm sorry for your loss, i don't have too many of my old friends around me in norway, i always was happy when i meet old friends on my visit to brooklyn. now, i have one less to look for, he will be missed.
his old friend from 79th st. " Hank "henry tom syrdahl.
