BRUSCO--Nicola S., age 91, died peacefully on November 12, 2025, at his home in Yonkers, New York. He was surrounded by his family and his faithful dog Teddy. He left Italy at age 14 and moved to New York. He attended Commerce High School on the Westside of Manhattan and wasted no time pursuing his American Dream. As a young man he aspired to be an opera singer and later became a longtime supporter/ member of the Metropolitan Opera. He was no stranger to hard work and during his career path he performed various jobs including, an ice man, a laborer and then a union carpenter working on projects including Madison Square Garden and Temple Emanu-El. He then went on to found his own construction company with his brother-in-law, Domenico Pate, Brusco & Pate Contracting Corp. He married Maria Bisceglia on November 9, 1957. He and Maria were happily married for over 60 years and they had five (5) children together. Nicola was a lifelong Catholic and worked until his late 80s. He loved life and enjoyed the outdoors, particularly gardening, hunting, and fishing. Thursday evenings were opera night at the Met with Maria and Sundays were reserved for his family and home cooked meals. He loved to watch Joe DiMaggio at Yankee Stadium as a teenager and was a lifelong Yankees fan.
