PETER MARGONELLI

MARGONELLI--Peter. Artist and photographer, Peter Margonelli (born 1954) passed away on December 17th, 2021 after a courageous battle against brain cancer. His playful personality belied a profound inner world and a sensitivity to the histories and lives that occupied the landscapes he pictured. Peter's upbringing in Plainville Connecticut acted as the inspiration and initial spark that led to his fascination with the ways in which industry has transformed the landscape -- a theme that is apparent in his work. Most of his years were spent in New York City, after coming to attend NYU. His life was filled with many wonderful and creative friends, for whom he was a constant source of energy and inspiration. His excitement about all varieties of culture was infectious -- from his love of cooking, to his frequent travels in Europe, to his love of art and design. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Peter seemed instantly disarmed by his affable personality -- often speaking to strangers like they're old friends. He was truly unique and unquestionably full of life and soul. He will be profoundly missed.
