i spent two years under the tutelage of dr. lief when i was a renal fellow at mhmc 1976-1978 and have nothing but good memories of working and learning from phil. i can honestly say it was the most fulfilling educational experience of my medical education. my sincere condolences to the family on their loss. i feel lucky to have known a wonderful teacher and mentor.
