RAYMOND MUSGRAVE Obituary

MUSGRAVE--Raymond Kenton. The United States Court of International Trade at Foley Square, Manhattan reports the death of its Senior Judge R. Kenton Musgrave at the age of 95 in his state of birth and retirement, Florida. Admission to the Bar in Georgia and California led him to positions with great American business enterprises: Lockheed International (assistant general counsel), Mattel, Inc. (vice president and general counsel), Pacific Enterprises (assistant general counsel), Vivitar Corporation (vice president, general counsel and secretary), and Santa Barbara Applied Research Corp. (vice president and director). Kenton's adventurous and athletic nature took him far beyond those corporate offices. A world explorer, aircraft pilot, alpine skier and ocean sailor, he maintained a lifetime commitment to protection and preservation of the Earth's environment and animals of all kinds via organizations such as the Morris Animal Foundation (trustee), Pet Protection Society (director emeritus), Dolphins of Shark Bay, Australia Foundation (director), The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund (co-founder and emeritus trustee), The Ocean Conservancy (trustee), and Westminster Kennel Club (co-producer). His personal friendship with the ill-fated Miss Fossey led to production of the acclaimed motion picture "Gorillas in the Mist," by which time he was a director of Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows. President Reagan appointed him to the Court in 1987. He is survived by his daughter Dr. Ruth Musgrave in Olympia, Washington, and his grandchildren Chase and Story Warren.
