RENEE BERGER

RENEE BERGER Obituary

BERGER--Renee. The Board of Directors, Staff and Families of Ronald McDonald House New York acknowledge with profound sorrow the passing of our dear friend and longtime benefactor, Renee Berger. Her leadership and profound compassion helped steer her family's foundation in its decades- long commitment to uplifting families battling pediatric illness, died on October 19, 2025. She was 83. Renee was a woman of remarkable grace and elegance, whose own joyful spirit -- a blend of warmth and wit -- brought light and comfort to all around her. She embodied a generosity that was both immense and deeply personal, touching countless lives with her kindness. As a dedicated co-trustee along with her sister Sandye of the Sol and Margaret Berger Foundation, she was the thoughtful steward of her family's philanthropic vision. With a sharp mind and a soft heart, she ensured that the Foundation's support consistently reached those in need, leaving an indelible mark on our mission and the families we serve. Yet, the cornerstone of Renee's life was her family. She cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and sister, and her greatest pride and joy were found in their love and accomplishments. We extend our deepest sympathies to her beloved children, Kim Kurtz Spadaccini (Joe), Jeff Kurtz (Sharon), and Pam Kurtz (Ron); her adored grandchildren, Jake, Andie, Tanner, Cooper, Elle, and Ryan; and her devoted sister and partner in philanthropy, Sandye Berger. She was predeceased by her parents, Sol and Margaret Berger. A guiding light in the lives of her family and our community, she will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

Yesterday

I worked with both Renee and Sandye when I was at Beth Israel; it was a joy to know them. My condolences to Sandye on the loss of her beloved sister.
