Just saw this and had to catch my breath. I recently signed up for more Sarah Lawrence news than I had been receiving in recent years, and began to noodle around online for long-ago names and connections. We met my Senior year-RK was a Junior-and then somehow touched base now and again over the many years since. She had the gift of joyous friendship and just picking up wherever we were with her extraordinary wit, wisdom, and generous insight. Truly unforgettable.

Kathy, Though you weren´t at the Co-op that long I certainly appreciated your contributions to the early days. And was happy we kept up - if only with holiday cards and messages. Joan

Dear Kathy,
Thank you for warning me with y our cryptic email on March 31. Cryptic of course is your style, always has been, but that one was special. i knew and felt it was and now i look at the page that says you are gone.
We started in the fall of 1961 , freshmen roommates at Sarah Lawrence, each surprised by the Other- you arty and different, me preppy and very mainstream. It turned out neither of us was what we seemed and over the next 2 years of living together we helped each other get out of those uniforms. We were more complex, more complicated, more eager to learn about the rest of the world including that Other we were to each other. Then I left for junior year abroad and stayed there. While you went on to a rich career of mixing corporate and creativity as only you could do. We followed separate paths but every time we spoke, once a year at Christmas or twice if a birthday too, it was as if we were back in that shared room. Your wit, your smarts, your reflective pauses, your huge heart behind that very quick brain. that never changed. However different our challenges and triumphs, that immediate 'hello' connection, usually followed by a giggles from both us, that stayed the same. We giggled well together. Its hard to believe now you won't giggle on the other end if I pick up the phone to call. Thank you for saying good by , roomy. And keep up the letters to the Editor wherever you are, the world needs your words, and I will miss them . hugs and love from Montreal , mon amie. Jan
