So sad to learn of Richard's death. Paul and I and our daughter had the privilege of traveling with Richard several times over the years (most recently on the Trans-Siberian Railway) and he was a wonderful travel companion. Curious, interesting and with a wry sense of humor. I never alighted from a bus or train that Richard wasn't waiting at the bottom of the stairs with a helpful arm to offer. As others commented - a true gentleman.
Deep condolences to Richard's family of whom he was so very proud.

I second all the reflections below. As one of his staff members at Inspiration Resources and later as a friend, I always viewed Richard as the consummate gentleman and a generous, caring person. He also was a student of politics, and I enjoyed many respectful, spirited discussions with him regarding our differing views.
