I cannot tell you how much I miss Richard Ferrone narrating my auto books while I fall asleep. I actually searched by "narrator" instead of title or author....now I am broken hearted because no one compares to him.

I will never forget Richard . I worked for years with him onstage at Trinity Rep. in Providence . He was fun , creative ... a wonderful collaborator . The memory that comes to my mind most often now is that in late Sept. ... just a brief time before he passed .. he and his wonderful wife Cynthia came to see me in an off-Broadway play . Really , it was literally days before he died .. and yet , there he was , there THEY were , smiling - being supportive ... being his usual generous self. An Amazing man ... an amazing couple of lovely human beings .

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Richard Ferrone. He was my favorite narrator on Audible. I was surprised that someone else was doing the "PREY" series when I saw that Richard had passed. Hopefully, his family finds some comfort in the fact that he was so admired and enjoyed.

I've just finished listening to Golden Prey and, as I wrote in my review for the local public library, Richard's narration was very entertaining and brought out the humour in the dialogue that I might not have always detected had I been reading the physical book.

I have listened to almost all the Prey novels in John Sandford's series. I was surprised to start Book 33 and hear another narrator that I also like. I looked into why and was sorry to learn of Mr. Ferrone´s death. Davenport and the many other characters are just not the same without that voice. Loved how he read and told the stories to us. He was a master narrator. Condolences to his family.

I have read or listened to all the Prey novels in John Sandford's series. I was stunned to start Book 33 and hear another narrator. I then learned of Richard's death.
Prey books to me are: John Sandford, Lucas Davenport, and Richard Ferrone. I can hear his voice in my head as I listen to the new narrator. He does a good job, but Richard was unique. Condolences to his family...

I only knew Richard through his narrations of John Sanford's "Prey" books. I have never been so entertained as I am listening to Richard! I didn't realize he had passed until I googled his name with the intention of thanking him for the hours of enjoyment he provided. It makes me sad to know I'll never hear anything new from him; but I will search out all I can find of his works. The world is diminished in his absence. RIP Richard.

I thought the reason I did not hear that Wonderful, Believable Voice in the recent Lucas Davenport novel was due to Mr Farrone having a budiness schedule conflict. Not once did I anticipate illness, then death. When I just did not have the time anymore to pick up and read books I discovered Audio books with long commutes due to my job. When I picked up the Davenport Series and heard the story and The Voice my 2 or 3 hour one way commute was Easy Peasy!!! I had no clue until today and was truly saddened to learn the news moreso after a year. My sincere condolences to his family. I'm a fan for life and discovered other books which he narrated and now have added to my library. May You Rest in Peace and Know you truly touched so many of us through your wonderful, believable narration of so many books!! You definitely are missed.

Just as John Williams brought life to many movies, Richard Ferrone gave life to audiobooks. I've been listening to Richard ever since my first Prey audiobook, and in my mind, he is Lucas Davenport. They are so intertwined that when I read a Prey book, I hear it in Richard's voice, complete with his mannerisms. When searching for audiobooks, I occasionally search first for the reader, and I have chosen books based entirely on the fact that he read them. I'll miss you, Richard.

What a marvelous man who touched the lives of so many. I only recently discovered Mr. Ferrone's work and am a listener of the Left Behind series.
As many others have said; it feels like the loss of a friend. The life he brings to characters will live on through all of us fans who hear his voice in our minds, hearts, cars, and headphones.
Thank you for your contribution to the world of literature, behind the scenes, and everything in between. Many condolences to the family.
Enjoy Your Rest With Jesus Mr. Ferrone.

I can't begin to express my feelings just now learning of the passing of Mr. Ferrone. It's like losing an old friend.
I started listening to Recorded Books in the 1990s and for me back then, the pantheon of narrators was George Guidell, Frank Mueller, Barbara Rosenblatt, and Richard Ferrone. Mr. Ferrone was "the" choice for me through my adult years, regardless of the author; his talent and craft never let me down. I can't imagine any other voice for the Prey series or the Left Behind saga.
He was one-of-a-kind and I'm so grateful to have enjoyed his craft. Thankfully, he lives on in his work which I will begin to revisit now.
My deepest condolences and most positive regards to his family.

I am saddened to learn, over a year late, of Mr. Ferrone's passing. His work with John Sanford has kept me company through grief of losing my parents, middle of the night baby feedings, long drives, painting sessions in my studio, pandemic lockdown... he truly felt like an old friend. I am so sorry to his family for your loss. He sounds like a marvelous man in addition to a tremendous artist.

His did this news miss me? I was thrilled to find a new Prey book only to discover the "wrong" voice a narrator. I couldn't get into the book and went looking for the reason why there's a change. I came to recorded books early in the 80's and have over 3,000 completed since I started counting. Not since the horrible accident that silenced the voice of Frank Muller has the industry suffered such a loss. I have spent maybe hundreds of hours with Mr. Ferrone reading to me. He was wonderful and will leave a huge empty space in the world of recorded books.

I accidentally came across the news of Richard's passing just a few minutes ago. It really stunned me. His voice was as comfortable to me as the old jeans I'm wearing right now. I've listened to all of the Lucas Davenport novels, and I know that my love of that series is as much due to Richard's work as it is John Sanford's. My world is a little diminished by this sad news. My heart goes out to Cynthia Darlow.
I'm going to start listening to the Mars Trilogy as soon as possible.

Richard Ferrone narrated my favorite series of audiobooks, the Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. I listened to them while working in a factory and as a landscaper, two physically demanding jobs that left me with hours of time with my thoughts and ears to myself but less and less of the time and energy to read that I used to have. I would never have enjoyed those books, nor engaged deeply with their contents and the author's thoughts, were it not for Richard's narration. His voice brought the characters, and Robinson's engaging technical descriptions to life. I don't know if he chose to narrate the books, cared for the books like I did, if they inspired him, got him thinking or if he even enjoyed them, but having learned of his participation in the labor movement and advocacy for working people both in law and as an actor, I like to think that he cherished the opportunity to narrate the series and would have wanted to know that his doing so contributed to this humble working man's intellectual development. I am so saddened to hear of his passing, and moved by his legacy. I'll be recommending his edition of Red Mars to all who will listen for years to come.

I am just now seeing that Mr. Ferrone passed away. Growing up he was one of the main voices I knew from listening to so many Recorded Books with him as the narrator. From Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness to The Left Behind Saga, and Francine Rivers Mark of the Lion trilogy!
My deepest condolences to his family. Rest well sir! You did well.

Was listening to Neil Gaiman's American Gods 10th Anniversary edition and recognized Richard Ferrone's voice. I googled to verify it was indeed him and saw that he passed away. I am so sad and shocked by this news. He was my all time favorite narrator. I've thoroughly enjoyed his narration of John Sandford's Prey series and Lawrence Block's Burglar series. I shall miss his voice but I am glad we can still remember him through his work. Rest in peace Mr. Ferrone.

I'm so sorry to learn bout his death. I know that when I hear his voice perform an audio book, I can feel my level of stress drop. I have a buddy that tells me stories. I even started a book that I know nothing about because I saw that he was the narrator.
I learned about his death when I decided to search out how to be in touch with him and let him know how much his art has meant to me.
My heart goes out to his family and close friends. His going was fast. I hope it was with little suffering.
Sincerely

Richard was a good friend at Holy Cross. I remember one year when I had to stay for Thanksgiving Rich invited me to spend it with him and his family. Years later I learned he had ditched his law career for the theatre and that he was pretty popular as an audiobook narrator. I re-connected with him only last year and we traded notes about our experiences as voice actors. He was still affable, generous... and what a voice! It's a shock to learn of his passing.

The world has lost a brilliant bright light. A gentleman with a kind heart and a ready laugh (look at that dashing smile!), he made every room he entered warmer and always made you feel as though you were the most wonderful person he had ever met. On my father's last birthday before my father passed away, Richard traveled out of state to the party to read him an excerpt from Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods ... funny, poignant, and brilliantly, grippingly delivered ... classic Richard. My father was delighted! I wrote a little haiku, in memory of Richard ... may his legacy continue in the inspiration created by his example and the memories he gifted us.
Richard ...
His gravelly growl
Deftly deployed
To pierce ear and heart.
I hang on every word.

I worked as an actor for years with Richard and loved him dearly. Richard had a heart as big as big can be . Three memories ; At Trinity , in a production of Durrenmatt's " The Visit" , Richard played a variety of townspeople and also in one chilling moment - a panther - who let out a scream I will never forget ... In a production of The Tempest ... Richard played Ariel ( an airy spirit ) whom Adrian Hall , the director had flying - using a rig set up by the famous " flying Foy Brothers" he flew 10 to 15 feet above the ground , in fluffy pink gossamer feathers ... the opposite of a fearsome panther ... and lastly .... because the immensely talented Richard Kavanaugh , a company member , was having serious health problems ... Richard stayed with him ... at his side ... appearing to help him home or to the doctors . Richard Ferrone was an angel who would be there for you if needed . the world has lost a hero.
