LITZSINGER--Paul "Pops" R. Paul "Pops" R. Litzsinger, age 93, of Captiva, Florida and Lake Bluff, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, surrounded by family. Born January 8, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, Paul was the son of Melvin P. and Katie Mooney Litzsinger. A proud first-generation college graduate, he earned his bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from the University of Missouri. During his time there, he served as president of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, serving as president his junior and senior years and was active in ROTC. Upon graduation, Paul answered the call to serve his country, becoming a captain in the United States Air Force, where he was a skilled navigator. It was during his college years that he met the love of his life, Dona Lucy Follett, whom he later married. Paul devoted his professional life to Follett Corporation, where through dedication, integrity, and vision, he rose to become President and CEO for twenty years and retired in 1997. Outside of work, Paul lived life to the fullest. He was a private pilot, a sailor who cherished time on the waters of Door County, Sanibel, and Captiva, and a world traveler with an insatiable curiosity. He loved antique cars, barbecues (with a special fondness for ribs), woodworking, photography, fishing, and was an avid reader, especially of history. He also enjoyed tennis, golf, and time spent in good company with family and friends. Paul's life was marked by hard work, devotion, and joy in simple pleasures. His memory will live on in all who were fortunate to know and love him. Paul was the beloved husband of the late Dona; father of Mark Litzsinger, Robin Litzsinger, Heidi (Jim) Baumann, Heather (Patrick) Thornton, Shawn (Alan) Stratman, and Todd (Kiersten) Litzsinger; grandfather of 18; and great-grandfather of 23. Visitation from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, 700 N. Sheridan Road, Lake Forest, IL. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 11:00am. Memorial contributions in Paul's name may be made to
