Dear Mary-A description of Richard would have been incomplete without a mention of his "strong moral compass". After I said something stupid in Stoughton North in Fall 1968, Richard accused me of not having a grasp on objective morality. The ensuing discussion was so memorable that one of the other 1968-69 Stoughton North freshmen (Eric Maskin, who is now Adams University Professor at Harvard) brought it up last weekend when several of us exchanged memories of Richard and his impact on us. Please consider that a small indication of the lasting influence he had on his charges in Stoughton North.
