ROBERT ASHTON Obituary
52, of Ft. Lee, NJ, thoracic surgeon and proud father of Alex and Chloe, son to Lillian and Bob Ashton, of Naples, Florida. Born in Vineland, NJ, attended Muhlenberg College and then Medical College of Pennsylvania and did his cardiothoracic fellowship at Columbia where he met his ex-wife Dr. Jennifer Garfein Ashton. Robert was the thoracic surgery director at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx and chief thoracic surgeon at Hackensack University Medical Center. He was deeply loved by his family, friends and countless people he helped in the many years as a physician.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was so taken aback and saddened hearing of his passing. He operated on me 10 years ago, as I had a rare form of lung cancer. I thanked God for Dr. Ashton and his gifted hands, expertise, and gentle caring ways. God's grace and Dr. Ashton gave me a second chance at life. May he rest in peace.

I met Rob when he was looking for an apartment last year and although I was only an acquaintance he touched my heart talking about his children and how much he loved those sweet dogs..amazing man and this hurts many people whose lives he touched.
