ROBERT EAKIN Obituary

EAKIN--Robert G.,

on Friday, December 30. Born in Cleveland, Bob served in the US Army after earning a BA from Harvard. He graduated with an MSW from Columbia and was affiliated with Peninsula Counseling Center (PCC), Nassau County. At PCC Bob served as Director of Family Therapy and Administrator, Child-Family Unit, and provided clinical supervision. He founded Families-In-Transition, a program to provide support for separated and divorced families. Bob held adjunct faculty appointments at Columbia, Adelphi and St. John's, and maintained a private practice in Hewlett, LI and Manhattan. He was devoted to his patients and deeply gratified by the connections he formed over the years. He is survived by his wife Mary Lynne, children Geoff and Chelsea, grandsons River and Bear, siblings Mike (Janet), John (Sybil), Martha (Jeff), and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverside Park: riversideparknyc.org or Great Lakes Basin Conservancy: greatlakesbasin conservancy.org.
