ROBERT MAY

MAY--Robert L. "Bob," 97, a retired Senior Partner of Arthur Andersen, died peacefully at home on December 8, 2021, in New York City, with his daughter, Jacqueline, by his side. Bob was a pioneer in international accounting, initially in the audit of large international clients and later as the first Chairman and fourth President of the International Federation of Accountants. He served as Chairman, Vice Chairman and member of several committees of the AICPA. After service in the Infantry in Europe in WWII and receiving his degree from University of Illinois, he joined the New York office of Arthur Andersen in 1948 where he remained until his retirement in 1986. Bob was well respected for his integrity and dignity. He loved his work and took great pride in his profession. He was predeceased by his beautiful, loving and charming wife of 64 years, Audrey, who passed on October 3, 2021. He is survived by his daughter Jacqueline May, son, Robert May, and four granddaughters.
