ROBERT NAPARSTECK Obituary

NAPARSTECK--Robert "Bob", 87, passed away on March 17, 2023. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Leola Taft and Samuel Naparsteck on April 5, 1935. Moving around with his family, he spent his adolescence in Exeter, PA. He excelled at basketball, baseball and band (he was the only student tall enough to play the tuba), as well as academically. After earning a B.A. in English from University of Scranton, he joined the US Army as an Intelligence Analyst in Baltimore and San Francisco. (He often commented on the oxymoron Army Intelligence.) After his military service, he moved to NYC, where he ultimately settled into a long, successful career with The Guardian Life Insurance Company. He married the love of his life, Jean Harris from Chicago, IL, in August 1983. They remained devoted to each other until Jean's death in 1996. Bob loved sports (Mets, Knicks, Giants) and classical music, supporting the Metropolitan Opera and New York Philharmonic. Indeed, he expressed an interest in living long enough to see the New York Mets win another championship. Sadly, he wasn't able to. Bob is survived by his brothers, Kenneth (Chicago) and Martin (Rochester, NY), his sister-in- law Patricia Naparsteck (Chicago) and numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and caring friends. Memorial services will be held in NYC (April) and Chicago (future date).
