ROBERT SCHULMAN Obituary

SCHULMAN--Robert, former Senior Vice President, and General Counsel of Kimco Realty Corporation, unexpectedly died of a brain hemorrhage on October 20, 2010, while traveling in Europe with his wife, Marjorie. Mr. Schulman, graduate of NYU Law School, handled Kimco's legal affairs for over 30 years, after his "technical" retirement, Mr. Schulman continued to represent Kimco on special matters. Mr. Schulman had a multi-faceted legal career spanning a broad spectrum, which included civil rights law, litigation and highly complex commercial transactions of various types. He was an adjunct professor of law at NYU. His life was distinguished by a relentless pursuit of excellence, fair dealing and integrity. Colleagues and associates respected him not only as a conscientious, dedicated and consummate professional, but also for the breadth of his wisdom, good humor and charm. He enjoyed mentoring junior lawyers and generously spent many hours to help them sharpen their skills. Those that worked with him will miss his keen intellect and perceptive insight. Mr. Schulman, a native of The Bronx, is survived by his wife, Marjorie by his daughters, Claudia and Janet; by his sons, David and Andrew; and by eight grandchildren. The associates and friends of Kimco mourn the loss of this very fine man, and extend their deepest sympathies to the Schulman family. The entire staff of Kimco Realty Corporation

So many years ago, I answered an ad in the NY Times for a Legal Secretary - willing to train in Commerciaql Real Estate Law at Kahr, Spitzer and Howard. I was hired and was privileged to work very closely with Robert Schulman. He taught me so much in such a brief amount of time. I was a paralegal, thanks to his ability to teach me everything I needed to know, since he would travel and need many documents processed in a timely manner. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and he knew how to work well with others. He treated people so differently than anyone I ever knew. They were able to feel so special. He respected all types of people and was kind and caring. He was so accomplished in law and was a decent person. I was searching to see where he may be, and was so saddened to know he has passed. I will always be ever so grateful to have had the opportunity to have been his Legal Secretary/Paralegal at Kahr, Spitzer and Howard, before he joined Kimco. Linda Ehrlich-Coronel

Bob was the best. He was so unique. He truly was a man for all seasons. He was willing to try anything, go anywhere and do, do do. Golf, sailing. tennis, litigation, championing civil rights running with the bulls or helping where help was wanted and needed.

Carolyn and I had many marvelous vacations with Bob and Marge. He was so much fun and had such boundless energy.

He was bright, witty, caring and all the good things we all want to be. He was truly a .400 hitter. We love you Robert, rest easy.

Continue to have fun up there . We all will miss you. We love you sooo much !

Boca Lago Country Club has lost a friend. We have lost a friend, a warm hearted affable gentleman who made a huge impresssion with so many of us. Well read, articulate, with a fund of knowledge on a variety of topics. A generous man who contributed many hours of improving Boca Lago. When his expertise was needed he came forth. Dinners and golf with Bob and Marge were both entertaining and filled with laughter. Bob was a happy man who enjoyed life, his family and his friends. We will miss him very much.

DEAR BOB...OUR PRECIOUS FRIEND. HE WAS THE SHINING KNIGHT OF THE BOCA LAGO ROUND TABLE. WE PLAYED GOLF AND THEN SPENT OUR LUNCH TIME TOGETHER SPINNING YARNS ABOUT THE CLUB. BOB ALWAYS BROUGHT US AROUND TO THE IMPORTANT THINGS; HE WAS OUR WALKING GOOGLE. HE KNEW ABOUT ALL THINGS. IF WE COULDN'T THINK OF A NAME OR A TOPIC BOB LOOKED IT UP THAT NIGHT AND ANSWERED THE QUESTION THE NEXT DAY.HE ADDED EXCITEMENT TO OUR RETIRED DAY...WE LUV HIM AND MISS HIM...ROSS, JERRY, HARVEY, WALTER AND THE MANY WHO WILL MISS HIM

My shock and sorrow upon learning of Bob's untimely passing could be no greater than if he was my blood brother, which in retrospect , he was. We practiced law from the same 277 Broadway offices in New York for many years, and were tennis and golf partners in our Florida homes in Boca Lago. Bob loved flying, and he was my co-pilot in our many trips to the Bahamas for snorkeling and fine dining . His pictures decorate my hangar walls. We celebrated the good times with Marge and his children and we held each other through the bad times as well. I will never forget Bob--he will be sorely missed.
