Roger was my camp counselor in 1968 at Camp Scatico. He was a great counselor, always cool and calm; everyone loved him. Now 57 years later I am beginning my cancer journey at Sloan Kettering, I so wish he was here.

I have put off writing this because I haven´t wanted to accept the reality that Roger is no longer here. Roger hired me 20 years ago when I was a new Psychologist. I was in awe of him from the moment we met, and I remember feeling shocked that he wanted this inexperienced young woman to work with him. I felt like an "imposter" but over the course of our work together he helped me believe in myself and trust my abilities. He was brilliant in every way: intellectually, emotionally, interpersonally, creatively and athletically. He was dedicated to everything and everyone in his life. He was a supreme clinician, a generous colleague, an empathic friend, and a dedicated family man. I was so incredibly blessed to call him my "boss," but he was so much more than that. I got the pleasure to witness first hand the compassion he gave to everyone who walked in that office door and I am so blessed to have had the best model of how to work. I miss him deeply, and always will, but take great comfort that he will forever be a part of me in the work that I do. Rest in peace my dear friend. Sharon

I only learned of Roger´s passing today. I´d called his office to let him know that his oh so very generous gift to the "Cry of the Heart" Poetry Contest at New Jersey Medical School back in 2012 had not ever been forgotten. I wanted him to know "Cry of the Heart" was being reborn at Brown University with the event to be held on April 28th. In my opening comments I was going to thank Roger for his poetic inspiration and compassion and now even more so. My sincere condolences to all his loved ones. May his memory be a blessing.

I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Granet's passing. My heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues. Dr. Granet was my doctor nearly two decades. I think I was the only non-oncology patient he ever treated. He saved my life that time and many times more with his genius diagnostic prowess and extraordinary humanity. I was suffering from constant ringing in the ears which no other doc could resolve. He knew in minutes--serotonin withdrawal and my misery resolved within 24 hours. Since that moment he became my go-to friend, medical advisor on all issues and poetry kindred spirit. We talked books, poetry and I always felt healed after a visit both physically and emotionally. I learned so much from him on how to live well. I will miss my times with him and the new book he had brewing and his forever wisdom. May his life be a blessing for generations of healers.

Dr. Granet was so smart, kind and intuitive. His words and advice will stay with me for the rest of my life. When I told him that my husband and I were going to Atlantic City for an Easter weekend, he mentioned that he liked Fralinger´s salt water taffies. So I bought a pound of them for him. He said that they were as good as he remembered. That made me so happy. God bless him, and my sincere condolences to his family. I am so sorry.

My heart goes out to the entire Granet family for the loss of a very special person. I was so saddened to learn of Dr. Granet´s passing. I was a patient of his for many years and most recently during my cancer journey. Reflecting back on our last discussion shortly before his passing we talked about living and dying and he reminded me again that there are no guarantees and to live life to its fullest. He has helped me out tremendously over the years for which I am so grateful to have had him as my doctor. He leaves an irreplaceable void for me and I´m sure for many others as well.
My deepest condolences to the Granet family.
RIP Dr. Granet

I was a classmate of Roger's during medical school. We were divided into small groups alphabetically - so Glasser/Granet were always together.
One of my favorite memories occurred in Martland Hospital Emergency Room, after a patient with a gunshot wound to the chest died. His chest had been opened in an attempt to save him. Roger and I (as medical students) were tasked with sewing up his chest wound. We were in a small room with the door closed, and Roger said, "The only way I can get through this is to talk to him!"
I was shy and introverted. Roger was a gracious friend. He helped me to cope and relate to people. I like to think that I helped him master some of the abstruse aspects of the medical school curriculum. I left a message with his office in 2020; and he returned my call promptly. I told him that every time I passed through Morristown (while visiting my father), I thought of him. He seemed surprised, as though he did not realize how much he meant to me. I worked for 2 years at St. Peters University Hospital, New Brunswick (Locum tenens); and I hoped to visit with him, but during the pandemic, there was a reluctance to interact any more than necessary.
I am now working in Brooklyn; and again, I had hoped to connect with him.
I am so sorry for your loss (and mine!) Roger was a gift to me! May I even say a Gift from God, whose presence he now enjoys.

Dr Granet was a remarkable practitioner and even better human being. Through his advice, perspective, support and genuine caring, he positively impacted my life and by extension the lives of my family, co-workers, friends and more. The best we can all hope for is to lead a life of meaning and to leave a legacy of people who are better for our interactions with them. Dr Granet is exceptional on all of these counts. I wish his family peace and solace as they come to terms with the fact that he left us too soon and am eternally grateful for the time I had with him.
