I am so saddened to hear the news of Roland. For many years we have lived near each other without ever finding the time to get together; I always thought I would see him next month or next week and now I have let that chance slip away. Roland was a good friend to me in the years that I needed a friend, I will miss not thinking of seeing him soon. All my sympathy to his wonderful parents and family.

Thank you for bringing the joy of poetry to me when we were just kids in college. It has sustained me throughout my life. I'll so miss talking to you about books and poetry. Condolences to your beautiful family and parents who were so good to me in our youth. You are so missed by all who knew your beautiful heart.

I met Roland through our son and daughter-in-law and did not know him well but on the several occasions that we did meet, Roland was always so much fun to be with, and so kind, respectful and thoughtful. I will never forget the day Roland took the scarf he was wearing and put it around my husband's neck. I was touched. Roland was a dear and loved friend to our son and daughter-in-law and they to him. I will always be grateful to Roland for his precious gift of friendship to them. See you at the top, Roland!
