Sam Kader Obituary

1979 - 2009
Sam Kader, beloved son of Salwa & Ralph, dear brother to Nino & Rick, and loving friend to many across the world, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2009, at the age of 30.

He was in intensive care at Mountainside hospital in New Jersey and battled pneumonia and MRSA for three weeks. His untimely death has deeply, deeply saddened us all. May he live on in each of us.

Born March 12, 1979, he grew up all over the world. As the son of a UN Diplomat he traveled to dozens of countries, experienced a wide array of cultures, and learned to speak fluent Arabic and Spanish as well as conversational Russian and French. He graduated with honors from Valley Forge Military Academy & College and later studied at Columbia and George Washington Universities.

Sam lived life to the fullest. His passions included: international affairs, polo, surfing, auto racing, motorcycles, aviation (he had a pilot's license) and most of all music (he was a fantastic DJ and an unparalleled dancer). He touched countless numbers of lives with his natural open hearted compassion, great sense of humor and generosity. In addition to his work in international business consulting, Sam was devoted to humanitarian and peace causes and volunteered at the United Nations.

Family and friends are planning a memorial celebration of Sam's life in October at the United Nations in New York City. Memorial services will also be held around the globe in: Taiwan, China, India, Malaysia, Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, Egypt and Dubai. If you would like to be notifed please contact [email protected].

In Sam's honor the family is establishing the Sam Kader Memorial Fund. Inquiries and contributions can be made to [email protected].

May he rest in peace at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in NJ and may God's infinite love, grace, and peace bless him for all eternity.

When I look back upon my life
No matter when or where
At every age & step & stage
My brother was always there
He made me feel so safe so loved
His kindness meant so much
I still can hear his words of cheer
And feel his gentle touch
When I'd set out to bring about
Some special dream or plan
His pride in me was plain to see
He was ...my biggest fan
If I had news to celebrate
Or hopes that had been shattered
He always knew just what to do
To show my feelings mattered
He'd hang in there to help me bare
The stresses and the stings
And always knew when to let go
So I could try my wings
And still today I'm glad to say
I feel your loving care
In the deepest part of my greatful heart
My brother was always there.

I Love You Sam, Always and Forever.
Your little Bro.

I knew Sam from GWU, he actually lived across the hall from me and was always nearby with a smile. Even on the tough days he found it within himself to make others happy. His presence will be missed by all whose lives he touched but his spirit will live on. Rest in peace my friend, my prayers and thoughts for your family.

Sam, you were a great friend. I will always remember the many good times we had and the ever-present smile on your face that could not be wiped away even after breaking 6 full pint glass racks that one Christmas eve at work years ago. You were a great person and your spirit will continue to enrich all our lives through our great memories of our times together. Rest in Peace my friend...

I worked with Sam in 2002-2003 and had so much fun spending time with him. Frequently, I gave him rides home from work and he would always have me laughing with his stories about the pet rabbit he had illegally living in his apartment.
He was so smart and I had no doubt that after school he would be very successful in whatever he did. I moved away in 2003 and did not stay in touch with Sam, but have thought fondly of him over the years, and am so saddened to learn of your loss. My prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Rachel Achmad

I worked with Sam at Buca in D.C. and I am saddened to hear of his death. Sam was a character to remember. One night after a stressful shift we went out and discussed dating life. He shared all of the perils of dating girls from New York and New Jersey. I wish I would have taken notes! He was funny and sweet and will truly be missed. My deepest sympathies to the Kader family.

Dear Kader family,

I am deeply saddened by the loss of a great soul. Sam and I went to school together in Jordan, and even then, at that age, he left an impression. He was so giving and loving, and had a great sense of humor. He always knew how to make us all laugh.

I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I had the words.

All my love and thoughts are with your family,
Lucy Ghazal

Sam,

You were so full of life and lived yours very well. You were kind and funny and just an all around good guy who was loved by so many.

Even after school, you kept in contact and I'm so glad that we were in touch again recently. I was very happy to hear how well you were doing! I only wish we had gotten the chance to hang out again, since you always made me smile.

Even though it's hard to believe that your time with us was cut short, you will be remembered by all of your many friends at GWU and will live on in those memories!

I am praying for you and your family and may God bless you all!

Dears Raouf & Salwa, The news of Sam's death came to us all in ESCWA who knows ur family as a shock.

I wish that I could tell you I am truly truly saddened and so sorry for this terribly painful loss. I knew Sam when I visited you at your home, while he was still child, but he surely left his mark and his passing away affected us so deeply.. we all remember your family with proud that you raise him as a man, with his bright personality and his loving, kind person. I really don't know how to express my sorrow and find myself at such a loss for words. All I can do is pray "Allah yer7amo, we yeghferloh, w'eywasa3 3alaih InshaAllah Ya ALLAH.
Because we are only human, these shocks are bound to bring us tears.
But we are not afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I send you and Sam my most heartfelt prayers. Love, Aref and Faten Nahhas.
